The Philosophy of Internet Marketing Success

The questions are often posed as to what makes a person successful. How do we measure success? What standards are to be used - money, possessions, certifications, awards, trophies?

What makes an entrepreneur and what outcomes do we use to establish success is also a consideration within the context of business success in general. Are the things that make a person successful in the offline market arena the same that makes them successful online? Or are there different skills and mindset at work for on line success?

Online marketing has opened a great door to millions of people to attempt entrepreneurship in a safe way and without the traditional "risks" associated with traditional offline models. Mainly because the online model is almost totally focused on marketing rather than on production. There is, therefore, minimal risk involved - being over powered by the need to market extensively.

The Internet is like the Grand Canyon. You just are not going to be able to fill it with your business and offers. At the same time, as with the Grand Canyon itself, there are many tourists that venture through it but there's not enough regular foot traffic to make a website hum and produce sales naturally (or organically). Where traditional businesses spend significant monies in building and renovating retail outlets and offices, the online entrepreneur need mostly only invest heavily in bringing traffic to the offer.

Though many spend some money on a website, the bottom line is that you don't need one to make substantial money on line. This is the nature of online selling. And most online marketers / entrepreneurs pay too much attention and time on building websites than on building traffic to their offer. So much so, that now, one of the big money makers on line is the selling of websites! This usually by online entrepreneurs who spent so much time and money in building a website only to find that money was not coming in as they had hoped it would.

This is why my best advice to new online entrepreneurs is the following: You must first identify what it is that you want to do online; 1. Make money, 2. Inform the world about your expertise or passion, 3. Solve a problem for somebody else.

Which of the three you are able to choose as your real core desire will determine how you should proceed in Internet Marketing.

If you're looking just to make money and lots of it, then you need to forget the website for now and concentrate on scouring the web for money-making methods that you can do without a website basically. There are literally hundreds if not thousands of ways for you to make great amounts of money using what's available online for free! You would know them by now if you weren't spending valuable money-making time in building a website.

If your desire is to teach, inform and enlighten others in the world about your love, passion and expertise, then you need to not worry about making money and concentrate on developing great content online. The best way for you to develop and showcase this knowledge is by creating your own website. You need to decide which type of site and how you want it designed. Whatever you choose should harmonize with the caliber and subject matter of your expertise. This type of site will in due time become authoritative and garner a multitude of back links and all sorts of SEO type references to spring up all over the Internet. The result will be loads of traffic by people interested in your thing! If you're wondering, how can I make money then? I'll tell you. What you've created is nothing more and nothing less than a hot online property that everyone who wants to make money will want to advertise on! Now you can garner great income from selling ad space and also by placing CPA (Cost Per Action) Ads on your site. You join a CPA network and earn money every time one of your visitors clicks on an ad and does anything from subscribing to a newsletter to applying for a credit card and such. You can earn from $1.25 through $150 and beyond!

The third category, in reality, needs no website and doesn't need to concentrate on money-making techniques on the Internet. If you identified the third category, then your main customers may be out in the real world - offline! There are many entrepreneurs that are helping offline businesses get online. They are resolving problems with marketing, website design, public relations, even helping a local business increase its local market share. Many opportunities abound for helping people find solutions to their problems. The real world is your sea to swim in and spending time with building a website and all that jazz may indeed be a total waste of your time and be furthering the delay of your success in what you really want to be. Many online entrepreneurs have now turned to offline activities and found great success. And the great thing about this is that they are still working in relation to the Internet. It's just they're helping real offline people with these issues, instead of trying to find them online through a website and such. They've tried that and didn't find much success. Problem solvers - don't waste time! Get out there and help people! There you'll find your success!
